Lift-off

_MAL3903, originally uploaded by Michael A. Lowry.

This morning, a few birds came to my balcony to feast on the stale bread I had left out for them. I had set up my tripod ahead of time, so I managed to get a few shots of this cute little guy. Check out my Nature photoset for more.

Sunset walk

This afternoon, after lunch, I took a walk up to the rocks overlooking Brunnsviken.

The sun had just set but the sky was still bright. The trail was wet, and some of the puddles had frozen either halfway or completely.

Here are just a few photos from Austin. I'm posting them via Hello running in Parallels Desktop, a great little app.

This morning, the sun came out for a few minutes while I was walking to the bus stop. I took this photo of the first autumn leaves on the ground.

In addition to the many maple leaves, there were a few oak leaves.

There are several flowers like this near the bus stop.

And of course, autumn trees in Kista. This photo makes the distortion introduced by the lense quite apparent. This sort of distortion can be (mostly) fixed in Photoshop using the Lens Correction filter.

Recent nature photos from Stockholm

Some recent nature phtoos.

I took these with my 50mm lens.

It's great at giving control over depth of field because the maximum aperture is f/1.4. However, it's somewhat limiting in that it has a fixed focal length. You can't zoom in or out with this lens. If you want more or less in the photo, you or your subject must move.

Then today the sun was out ofr a while so I stuck the 18-70mm zoom lens on and took a few photos.

Fall is here, and the leaves are beginning to cover the ground in a golden blanket.

There are still many leaves on the trees though. We haven't had our first freeze yet; that's probably still a few weeks away. It has gotten down to 8 or 9 degrees at night this past week though, so cold weather isn't too far off.
